Travel into York with City Cruises York

On selected dates from April to September, we operate our increasingly popular River Bus service. The River Bus transports guests from the campsites in Naburn and Acaster Malbis into the heart of our beautiful city, before offering a return service in the late afternoon.

Whilst everybody else is struggling through the traffic, you can enjoy a leisurely cruise up the River Ouse, sailing past Bishopthorpe Palace, the stunning 13th Century riverside residence of his Grace the Archbishop of York and on into the city. The journey usually takes around 70 to 75 minutes from Naburn.

Please note that the City Cruises York River Bus is a transport service only, although the boat will still have all of the same facilities as those operating our sightseeing cruises. These include a heated saloon, Ladies and Gentlemen’s toilets and a fully stocked bar serving beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, hot drinks and snacks.

Please also note that the River Bus sailings are subject to river levels and so we do not sell tickets online. Please ask your campsite up to one day before to confirm that the weather has been kind to us and we are able to operate this service.

If you have any questions about our York City Cruise, then you are welcome to call our Sales Office on 01904 628324. However, we hope that you will be able to find the answer here in our FAQs.

By purchasing tickets online/on board you agree to our Terms and Conditions of Carriage and accept the Ticket Terms and Conditions.

Please Note: Due to the nature of this cruise, City Cruises York reserve the right to refuse admission to Stag/Hen parties.

Naburn and Acaster Malbis Campsites

Remember, our River Bus Service only brings people into York from Naburn and Acaster Malbis. If you are looking for somewhere to stay, why not check out the campsites in these two stunning villages on the outskirts of York:

Naburn Lock Caravan Park

The park is a friendly family-owned site, run by Peter & Catherine Wilkinson, and their aim is to please all of their customers.

The park is situated 4 miles south of York, half a mile from the unspoiled village of Naburn, by the River Ouse, and adjacent to the picturesque Naburn Locks. It is well-placed to explore the many different areas of Yorkshire, such as the Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors and the coastal resorts of Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough

They have 50 touring pitches, 25 tent pitches, and 10 hard standing pitches for motor homes, all with electric hook ups. Separate paddocks are available to accommodate small educational parties.
