TERMS & CONDITIONS OF HIRE

PROVISIONAL BOOKINGS

Provisional bookings will be held for 14 days without obligation or deposit. The deposit and signed booking form is required to confirm any provisional booking.  If another customer requires the same date and you haven’t confirmed with a deposit and booking form after 14 days your booking will automatically be released.  We will do our best to contact you before releasing your provisional booking.

AGENCIES If you book private hire on behalf of your clients, please note full payment for the boat hire is due within fourteen days. We will not confirm your booking until then.

CANCELLATIONS

If you cancel a confirmed booking, the following charges will be due:

If written cancellation is received with less than 14 working days’ notice, full payment is due for boat hire and any food, entertainment, boarding drinks, pre-booked wine or decorations booked for the cruise.

  • If written cancellation is received with less than one calendar month notice prior to sailing, the boat hire deposit will be kept.
  • If written cancellation is received with 60 days’ notice or more notice, a £50 admin charge will be administered.
  • For Christmas Parties, full boat hire is required at the time of booking, which is none refundable.

CAPTAIN JAMES COOK

If you book this boat on a Friday or Saturday night during the summer, you must have at least three hours hire & have food on board. Please note that the full boat hire on this boat is NON REFUNDABLE & NON TRANSFERABLE.

PAYMENT CONDITIONS

Full payment for your cruise is due two weeks prior to your cruise date.  If full payment is not received you will not be permitted to cruise.

CATERING AND ENTERTAINMENT

No food, drink or entertainment may be brought on board other than what is booked through City Cruises York. If you book any boat for the maximum of four hours, then you must have food on board. All guests must be catered for. We normally charge 50% of the buffet price for children aged five to twelve years. Children under the age of five years are not charged for catering. However for health & safety reasons you must include them in your final numbers.

CRUISE DETAILS

Your vessel is booked for the agreed duration at the agreed price.  If late guests delay the departure of your cruise, the boat will return to the quayside at the scheduled time, regardless of actual cruise time.

All our Skippers have authority to terminate any cruise at any time if the behaviour of passengers is deemed unacceptable or poses any risk to their own safety, the safety of the vessel or other river users. We reserve the right to keep any Security Bond if this should happen. All boats have radio contact with our land base during the cruise. No refunds will be issued if you cruise is terminated early.

In the event that you experience any problem during the cruise, please speak to a member of the crew and we will do our best to sort things out on-board for you.

 ALCOHOL AND ENTERTAINMENT LICENCE

There are strict conditions placed on us from the City of York Council for our alcohol and entertainment licence.

It is strictly prohibited to bring your own alcohol on board any of our boats unless you have pre-booked and paid for corkage prior to your cruise, but this must be done through the office only.

Corkage is only available for Wine, Sparkling Wine or Champagne

No pre-paid corkage bottles, opened or unopened, can be taken off the boat at the end of hire.

They must be returned to the office for collection at a later date.

All passengers may be checked for proof of age when purchasing drinks. Valid Photographic ID includes Driver’s License, Passport or an Official Holographic Pass card. Student cards will not be accepted.

All forms of music entertainment must lower the volume after 9pm when sailing through the City.

Our latest disembark time at Kings Staith Landing is 10.15pm and 10.30pm at Lendal Bridge Landing.

Please bear this in mind when booking the time and departure point of your cruise.

THE SMOKE-FREE (PREMISES AND ENFORCEMENT) REGULATIONS 2006

As you will be aware, the above legislation came into force on the 1st July 2007, enforcing by law that all enclosed public places and workplaces become smoke free.  Further to this our policy regarding the above will be as follows:

  • All enclosed areas on all our vessels are non-smoking.
  • River Palace, River Prince, River Duchess and River King have open top decks where smoking will be permitted.
  • On private cruises booked on Captain James Cook, without food, smoking will only be permitted if the top deck roof is opened and/or side windows are removed to create a smoking area.

SECURITY DEPOSIT AND DAMAGES

Please note, we require credit card details as we reserve the right to charge for any damage that occurs during the cruise and/or any additional cleaning cost if deemed excessive.

The organiser is liable for all damages caused by themselves or their guests.

A charge to your card will only be processed if City Cruises York deems that excessive cleaning costs or damage has been caused on the boat or if you or your party have broken the Terms and Conditions of hire and/or Terms and Conditions of Carriage.

Any unreasonable behaviour by any guests, will result in the Security Bond been retained by City Cruises York.

We will always contact you prior to taking payment should this be the case.

ACCOUNT BAR FACILITY

If you require an account bar facility, this must be arranged prior to your cruise and we will require a deposit of £150.00 which is payable on your balance invoice.

The amount of your account bar, less the deposit will then be charged to your card the day after your cruise.
